*pats* Don't worry, we all know the pain of learning LOTEs x.x But that was really uppity of them, just because of your name -,-
They're a fiendish lot of people; I'm just hoping I become an officer so that extra pay, better food, and bossing people around will make up for this misery xD

Plus its fun to call yourself an officer and you get cute hats You'll probably get officer, if ours offered my brother officership when he was toying with the idea of joining, then I think there is a good chance yours would ask you. They like shmot pepple with good phsyc exam results. *wonders if Lazy Ass shows up on said exams*

All men are conscripted at 18 and serve two years in the army there, Ice. Then they get stuck in the reserves for the rest of their lives xD It makes sense, since they're only a little red dot wedged between Indonesia and Malaysia but it's sad Nick has to do it.

It's the same thing with Israel, only /everyone/ is drafted at age 18. And yes, it is stinky. D:

I've heard there have been talks of conscripting the girls but I don't know if there was any truth to that and it certainly wasn't new xD But yeah, Israel, I think China does and Korea as well. '.' Australia did for a long while but it was abolished in the 80's.

Our draft isn't active... sometimes, when I meet people, I think it should be.

Singapore? I recall reading an article that said the US should have mandatory military service... my brother said it'd be good for discipline, but I think the article was arguing about patriotism or at least some realization of the good that is in the US.

I think the army is a good place for youthful offenders, but ONLY the ones that pass the psychological exam. I don't like the idea of just anybody, especially those inclined crime, being given a gun and trained to use it but I think in a world (or more accurately, a country like mine) where no one can exact any real kind of dicipline on... anyone, even the judicial system, I think it's a good way of potentially straightening out some kids instead of sending then to Juvy which is like Youthful Offenders High School for Future Criminals xD

I do think the army's a good way to sort out juvy offenders- juvenile hall doesn't do much good, if you ask me. But the rest of us are decent people who would really want to run-away-to-England but are stuck in a miserable camp for the next two years x.x
