I would concur, but at college I usually see messenger bags or totes.

The only people who use backpacks here are the people that don't use their lockers. So they're the freaks there. I don't know why, but it realllllly bothers me if one doesn't use their lockers. They're GIVEN TO YOU to "safely" store your things in. Why would you lug around 7 classes worth of books and binders? Idiots.

Because you don't want to make the trek up to the second floor between classes, or you just don't feel like going back and forth from your locker and instead prefer to chat in between classes. I only kept my lunch and jacket in my locker. Admittedly I had first floor lockers for 9th/10th grade (and you can always access your old locker, since they don't change the combos) but still, I didn't care much for going back and forth. I can survive with my backpack just fine, and if you're smart, you don't use bulky things. ^_^ My binders were small and my textbooks weren't used that often.

At most of the schools I went to we either didn't have lockers or you had to rent them out, and even those who did rent them out would use bags to carry their needed books/stationary to their classes and back to the lockers. Everyone has bags here xD Still I think most HS have been adding lockers where previously they had none, as toting around a whole days worth of books and files for classes you wont need for five hours really does in your back, particularly for seniors o.o

Yeah, my school only has lockers for the staff. D: *wishes her teachers didn't make them carry around their textbooks*

I used my locker in middle school, but never in High School. I probably would have if I had seven classes a day, but with block scheduling it was only four. *didn't even know where her locker was*

Um. We use both here. We have a lot of required books, so even just books for four classes worth (we have block scheduling as well) is a load. So we store all our books in our locker, then load the ones for the next class (some people do the next two classes) into our backpacks. That way, we don't have the burden of having our arms occupied by books or going to our lockers right before class. (wide campus with an abundance of stair cases) Backpacks keep them off our minds, while bags require constant attention from one arm, though there are people here that use bags. Quite a few actually, but backpacks are the majority. Totally pointless speech.

I really want to see a picture of your school's setup, Sorie.

For a somewhat needless clarification: Bags = all kinds of, including backpacks, totes and side bags.
Backpacks were the most common. They do spread the weight a lot better. x3
