...sitting on a bench today next to a young man (that sounds incredibly formal, especially since he's around my age, but he's the kind of guy who wears oxfords and a button down shirt to school every day and deserves the title "young man") who was reading Atlas Shrugged, while reading an article on the benefits of socialism given to me by my English teacher.

What are Oxford's? Why are they called Oxford's? Do they have anything to do with rowing?

That's exactly what I thought the first time I saw him (he's new). I'm trying to get my friend to introduce us. If he's read enough Vonnegut, I'll let the Ayn Rand slide. Anyone that wears oxfords in eighth grade is awesome beyond comprehension.

Oh most certainly! Oxford wearing boys are worth at least talking to.
There was this cute boy in my first year at HS called Peter. I *think* he was in our special art classes and he, like me, spent English reading fiction novels (since we had already finished our work) and drawing and stuff. Unfortunately I was in this extremely awkward phase where I didn't know how to talk to new boys (the friends I'd known all my life were fine) and I had a tendency to be really snotty or just... kick them. I didn't want to be a jerk but it kept coming out that way and I'm afraid I didn't get to make friends with a lot of the really, superly awesome art boys in my class xDD
Anyway Peter and I would have staring contests and even though he still spoke to me after I accidentally poked him in the eye we never really got to be friends before I left the school. I regret that we didn't. My best friend of the day, Clara, did become friends with him, so that was just confirmation that Peter would have been a cool peep to have around.
I wonder if he's dead...

Snotty Anne? I'd never have thought xD But hey, we're all that way for a while when it comes to making new friends, especially if they're of the other gender

Yeah I always used to think that the whole cliche on TV where if you're mean to someone it means you like them was crap but for about a year that was totally me xD Not 'LIKE like' but there were lots of really cool boys who were very witty and fun and all I could do was be a jerk xD Although to be fair I was also contending with the peer pressure of my girl art friends, who looked at you funny if you spoke to a boy (I guess that old PS thing takes time to fade). One of those friends had one of said boys totally in love with her too, and so it was really our duty to ignore him and all his friends along with her xD I don't know why she was so mean to him, I thought his little attempts were cute xDD Friend: *sitting on bus* Boy: *sits in front of her and turns around**offers hand* Hi, I'm Bryne (All sweet the way he did. We all knew who he was by then) Friend: *stares at hand apathetically and not impressed until it's withdrawn*
