*funnels information at you guys*
Pesh (peshtigo from Leo?) is starting a new Leo-esque website, I believe.
"
Anyway; my brother knows how to code, virtual pet sites are his specialty
He sells coding and flash games to virtual pet site owners in his free time (you can see him @ the virtual pet list link below, his UN is xtmx. He's on a few other VPS sites too, he's either xtmx or Thomas, *maybe* Tom sometimes.)
If leo users were interested in it... he's been wanting to make a successful website for a while now...
He can code pretty much everything. And he's focused and passionate about it, too. He doesn't give up when people give crits and he always cares about the users and how they feel. ^_^"
"Hope y'all are serious about this thing, because I asked him and he said that.... he'd start coding tonight.
Hee!
Okay, the facts:
-Any past leo member would be let in. No questions asked =)
-Depending on interest and cost, might open it up to invites/apps at some time
-The whole thing could be finished in a few weeks to a month at most.
-I'm thinking that to prove that things were being worked on, we could open it up to like a pre-alpha sort of thing, where people who want to guide it along and even help with writing/little coding things could. For those that wanted to come when everything was fully coded, they would just need to wait a few weeks to a month. ^_^
-It only takes like a day at most to code a registering system and a forums... this honestly could be open this weekend. xD
I think that's it for now. BUT, please please please tell me, former leo members--is this a go or no? I don't want him to use up his time if people don't want it to carry out D: Would you really be interested in this neoleo?"
[The question: would we get our old pets back? Zane's idea: screenie accounts once Leopets (World of Leopets?
) is back up.]
"To answer your Q again Yoshi; I'm not sure. Yes, we don't have /any/ of leopet's data and stuff, so having people get their pets back would totally be on the honor system. If everybody would be fine with that, though... -shrug-
edit: oooorrrr what Zane said would be cool too. xD
Just know that...
We will NOT have any leopets-specific pets, because they were drawn by various users and stuff and we don't have permission. If people want to re-submit stuff and all that would be cool though. I'm thinking we could make some of the old april fools pets into pets or something.
I think it would be best to put that (regaining pets) and having a mini-application to a vote.
I want neoleo to be a user-run thing, not an overbearing overlord of an owner type thing. xD
The same with the pets idea--I'm wondering if everyone would prefer numbers to names.
"
"TO answer Bone's question, yes I think there will be a pet suggestions board, but just more 'complete' rules and stuff on replying and such. Also I think that would be a good thing for a user to do =) Or if a group of users wanted to be in charge of 'reviewing'.
I just wanted to post again and then run off to math, this /is/ fer srs. xD We have a domain name that's free and we're thinking of buying, but I don't know how the interest level is. I want to know if you'd be interested in trying a site where the /users/ played such a huge role in everything, or if traditional 'one owner and admins' kinda thing would be better."
"Keke, I asked him about that and he explained that if it took him as long as a month, that would be 'lazy coding'. Coding only a few days a week for only like 30 minutes at a time. xD He gave a month for those lazy days and stoof. He's the kinda kid that once he focuses on something, he'll work at it till it gets done, really.

First; please, please, PLEASE do not completely get your hopes up that this neoleo will come and be great and huzzah. We will be working at things, but there may be a time to come where we can't afford it anymore or it just seems like nobody's very interested or we just don't have the time anymore.
I would *never* just decide to drop everything and leave people just hanging, but if the time ever were to come that my brother and I were unable to continue with the responsibilities, would there be others out there willing to take the coding and such to keep it going/ get it running? Or, do you think if this doesn't work out, things REALLY should be dead for good? Or, again I ask, would more people than 7 be willing and interested in this kind of thing. ^^;"
My thoughts: ... Anne learns pHp and codes us a new site.
