This week on Animal Planet we have the great honour of bearing witness to the first recorded hatching of the Hallowus Hatchus-Alreadius, a newly discovered genus more commonly known as the Halloween Reaper Egg.
Halloween Reaper Eggs are recognisable by their smooth, matte surfaced shells and flat, oval shape. They come in an array of colours and are marked by a distinctive imprint that greatly resembles a profile of the Grim Reaper (hence their name). It is not known what kind of creature lays these eggs, however the circumstances in which the eggs were found suggest that the animals are brood parasites.
A clutch of eight eggs were discovered in the disused nest of the Mumma Blob (see. Blobs, Bloblings, Goldmine) some time during Halloween, but were rejected by the intended foster mother and instead adopted by members of the Vagabondz community, who have since watched the eggs with mild, fleeting interest.
Almost one month later, and despite very minimal efforts made by the community to incubate and facilitate the eggs, cracks have begun to appear in the shells, and the imminent arrival of these mystery creatures has everyone sort of interested.
And I think - yes, yes I believe one of the eggs is beginning to hatch! Small lines have formed over the reaper symbol. It almost looks like some kind of... alchemist's array. Light has started to seep through the cracks and the shell has begun to slowly fall away in pieces.
I have the owner of the maroon egg, Sofia Nut, with me now.
Sofia, how does it feel to be here on this momentous occasion?
Sofia: OMGOMGOMGAMIONTV?
Er, yes, yes you are. But as the owner of the first egg to hatch, you must be feeling some kind of emotion.
Sofia: EEEEEEEE. Er. I'll calm down. I'm very excited to see what exactly this new creature is. Hopefully I won't kill it like I did my last pet.
Kill... like last-? *cough* Well I'm sure you'll do much better this time around! Has it been an anxious wait?
Sofia: No, not really. I actually completely forgot until you reminded me today.
I... see.
Hmm? My producer has informed me that the hatchling appears to be free. Lets go over and take a look!
Sofia: I've never seen anything like it!
Sofia: Does it have legs?
She. She.
Expert: I... don't know
Sofia: My, I am very proud of my little legless being.
Look! A rainbow! This is a sign from the heavens.
It suuuurre is 8)
What lurks within the other eggs? Will they have legs? And where did she get those clothes?!
Stay tuned!
