Here's my half of the room. I live in a double within an apartment. My roommate took the window side, which at first I was upset about. But then I remembered that I like to recede into the darkness. I opted for honesty and didn't try to be overly tidy just for the photoshoot... Dresser, shelves, miniscule salute to the music industry. Unmade bed... Ethernet cord that I move around the room with my computer, as the wireless doesn't reach my room 80% of the time. My bath caddy and the AWFULLY placed shelves that pose more of a threat to my cranium than they serve a purpose. One of our apartment bathrooms. Our living room area. It's not adorable, but it gets the job done... Fridge, toaster, the dish rack that NO ONE ever empties. :/ Oven, stove, counter. Our view from the living room window... A shot down the hall. The door at the end is one of my housemates. To get to my room you'd walk up to that door at the end, but then turn right.

It kind of reminds me of a nursing home. I like your bag.

I am mildly amused by your lack of a toilet paper holder. Also, props for that photo collage, it really adds a nice touch of color to your room! That shelf should be adjustable if you have a screwdriver handy.
I suspect it's all the identical furniture that contributes to that feel. Pretty standard for campus housing, though.

Well functionality wise, a nursing home and a college dorm are pretty similar. You have a lot of turn over, no customisation, needs to be sanitary and easy to clean, and yeah, they wouldn't pay much for furniture.

Oh, we have a toilet paper holder... I have no idea why there's a roll just sitting there... The holder's behind the sink on the wall. It's total crap though, slightly bent, and thus hard to change. Might have just been too lazy to put the roll on, I suppose.
And the shelf levels are easily adjusted, I just wish we could move the actual racks themselves... Unless that's what you meant when you mentioned a screwdriver.

Very true, Anne!
I meant the shelf heights, if they're posing a threat to your cranium. Not sure what you mean by racks, though--the actual metal strips with the holes in them?

*surprised you have a gas stove... and quite envious of it.*

What sort of stove do you have?

Electric... a much older, crappier electric stove.
I grew up with an electric stove, so that doesn't actually bother me too much, just the fact that it's a crap electric stove. xD
But back on Sorie... I loooovee the photo collage as well and I like the under-bed storage system you've got going there.

Oh, well yeah, I've removed that bottom shelf since taking these pictures.
I'm pretty proud of my photo collage. It was a little time consuming, but it adds pop to the otherwise plain room.
I don't think I've ever lived with a stove that wasn't gas. And I'm SO thankful that I can store all the stuff under my bed, or I would honestly have no idea where to put it all. It's nice because I don't have to flatten the boxes; I can just pull them out and start packing when I'll eventually need to do that.

^ Higher beds are so useful for storage. I have a bed that sits on the floor now, but there's plenty of storage room in our apartment so it's okay. If I dormed, though, I'd totally do that. Do you have to jump to get on your bed, though? I remember I'd literally have to leap to get onto some friends' beds.
I lived with an electric stove for 5 years, so glad I'm back to gas. Much easier to control, I feel like!

I have an Induction stove, which is run by magnets. The temperature is so precise it's fabulous, and you don't have the inconvenience of trying to clean a gas cooker.

Wow, the induction stove sounds really cool.
And Ice, thankfully my bed only comes up to my hips, so it is especially satisfactory to get up onto. I know what you mean though, my friend at another university has a bed that requires a leap with a good starting run. (or a step stool, which she intelligently opted for)

I love it so much. It's settings are numbered 1-9. It's so perfect I can walk off and forget about the chocolate I'm melting and come back to find it all right.
These giant yankee beds sound very strange to me. I've never heard of a bed that you need to jump onto. Either you can climb onto it easily or you have a ladder. There's no leaping in between.
