I was looking for cupcake recipes for my mum's birthday tomorrow (she decided she wanted both chocolate and vanilla xD) and in doing so I stumbled on a blog of this... well I wouldn't say "rabid" feminist, but it was enough to make me sad for the child she brought into this world.
From what I read, she hasn't let her daughter watch any of the Disney movies with princesses in them, doesn't seem to encourage the playing of dolls and apparently she alters all of the fairy tales she tells her daughter so they're more about woman-power.
I understand wanting to raise your child to be independant of certain gender roles, but cencoring disney films just seems... overdone. I was raised with everything girlie but I consider myself quite independent regardless.
That poor, poor child o.o

Woow. =/ When I was little, my parents never said anything about gender roles, it was just a given that everyone is equal.
Honestly, Disney films and fairy tales are not going to 'contaminate' your child.

Where the mother told her child right from the get-go that there was no Santa and no tooth fairy and no Easter bunny and such.

I don't think I've ever seen it in it's entirety. Because if I start watching a movie or reading a book or something, I can't continue if a character annoys me. And that mother sure got under my skin quick. XD Another would be The Wizard Of Oz... Mostly classics that people shun me for not having seen the whole thing.

I actually didn't like the Wizard of Oz. Dorothy is tres annoying. I like the books a lot better. I liked Wicked a lot, though. I wonder if that femenist woman would let her child se Wicked...

I really don't see the harm in letting children you know, enjoy their childhoods. I used to really dislike Santa but that doesn't mean I wouldn't let my own children enjoy believing in him. Its not like they will grow up and think he's still real at 30 xD
I think people are so wrapped up in raising their children to be small adults that they forget to let them be children :/

What does playing with dolls have to do with the defamation of women?

It bothers me. I have no problem with strong women but feminists... take it too far, you know?
