My school is retarded.
1. The vice principal lost a good amount of respect from me. He came into the school at the beginning of the year, and things looked up. There was actually some discipline, the amount of drug use seemed to go down (at school at least) and people were finally being held accountable for things. He was funny too.
2. We currently have an interim principal. For anyone who goes to a functional school or just doesn't know the term, an interim faculty member is basically someone with decent qualifications who can do the job while someone is being [or not being] hired.
I've told this story a few times and I seem to get it in the wrong order. So I will tell it in steps.
1. We have a pep rally. School ends at 2:13, buses leave about 2:17. The pep rally gets over at about 2:05 and the MC of the pep rally, let's call him Bob, converses with a teacher then tells the entire school we can go to our lockers.
2. My locker is in a hallway known as the "secret hallway" or several other nicknames. This hallway was added to the school during renovations as a last though. This is where the alternative education room is, a special ed room, the Spanish room and the internal suspension room is. This hallway also holds thirty or so lockers.
3. The vice principal was in the internal suspension room during the pep rally.
4. Many of us went to our lockers to get our stuff.
5. The vice principal comes out and says, "What are all of you doing out of the pep rally?"
6. We respond, "Bob told us we could go to our lockers."
7. Vice principal responds, "That 10th grader with the Amish beard? He told you to go? Anyone who thinks that's a good look obviously has no authority to direct 600 students to do anything, never mind wander around the building. If any of you leave before the 2:13 bell, that's cause for suspension. Spread the word. Now I need to go make an announcement or something..."
8. He walks away, bitches at a sketchy sub trying to help and leaves.
9. We laugh a little, mostly at the sketchy sub.
10. An announcement comes over the PA system. At the time of the announcement, the VP has had plenty of time to get to the office, so we assume it's him. In fact, it is the interim principal, telling us there was no need to go back to class.
11. To wait for the 2:13 bell, myself and two others in the group that got bitched at go to the cafeteria, from which, you can see the student entrance/exit doors.
12. It's 2:10 and we saw kids leaving. Teachers were at these doors smiling and wishing students to have a good weekend.
13. We're like, psh! And leave. We figure he can't jump out of the bushes and be like LOL SUSPENDED!
14. Buses leave at 2:14.
15. 2:20, I'm almost home, all buses are called to return to the school to pick up the select few who actually followed the rules.
