I did not know legumes weren't allowed. A modified paleo would be possible, too. My only thing with it is that it requires a bit of planning and I'm kind of a bum about that. Oatmeal cookies! <3 They're my favorite.

Such tiny blobs of oatmeal! i hope that was only for photo purposes and the actual meal had more than that. Or maybe the scale is deceptive, or I don't know portion sizes. I see you like your oats less cooked!

The top one is a full serving, the bottom... well, I grabbed the 1/3 cup measure instead of the 1/2 cup measure. xDDD But I think the angle is deceptive too and you're right, it would look like more food if I used more liquid. I should do that to trick myself into thinking it's more food.

Yeah, looking at the first one with the spoon as a reference the angle is definitely a little sneaky.
I always like my oatmeal at the edge between chewy and mushy. And I use milk, I think it helps add a little more volume than water (plus, it tastes better!).

More! I couldn't think of anything to give my brother for Christmas, so I gave him dessert coupons. He redeemed his first one yesterday. Mini Chocolate Peanut Butter Tarts Unfortunately, I don't have tart pans, so these were made in a muffin pan and aren't quite as pretty as they might be with the proper equipment. Also, I was lazy.

I dunno, they look rather pretty. Did he choose which dessert you made or is that your decision? xD

That's the worst feeling, when you're tempted to snack in spite of knowing it will probably ruin your dinner. xD

Today was my brother's birthday! I made him a chocolate stout cake. It was a very rich dark dessert. Not for everybody, but it was very good. And pretty!

Starting off, I very much like the candles you've used. They're lovely colours and really match the understated aesthetic of the cake. From the sounds of it, that's the sort of cake that would really compliment having ice cream with it. You're right, I probably wouldn't love it, but I'd definitely have a little bit with keen enthusiasm.

Thank you! Eeee, I really like the candles too. When I saw them, I had to get them knowing they would match so well. They had colored flames too, but I didn't really get a good photo of them lit. The ice cream went really well with the deep flavors of the cake as well as the dark color (which is what I'd been planning/hoping for since I got the idea for the cake in my head). The crumb topping came out nice and crunchy and tasted like Oreos (or Joe Joe's in this family). You probably would have liked that part.
