Ah yayyy! That's awesome. (To continue the neomail conversation here, because I forget to check neo) 1000 miles across the country... west coast? That's a distance from MA! If you don't mind my asking, are you now in Cali? As for what I'm up to, senior year of college starts in two weeks! I'm doing medical school applications right now, so hopefully I get accepted and do that once I graduate. Summer-wise, though, I went to India, mentored teenage girls, and did a fun internship at a hospital. Now it's lazy time.

Dude Ice, you are a very busy person! It's neat how much you do, especially for a med student... *pokes Lauren*

Correction: I did not mentor in India (just went there to visit family) - the mentoring was when I came back, which I probably should have mentioned after the India bit. Also, I am not currently a medical student, just a regular ol' college kid. Doctor wise... I'm thinking internal medicine aka primary care/GP but we'll see. I was considering being an OB at one point (delivering babies is supposed to be rewarding and all) but the malpractice insurance is insanely high and I don't know if I'd like the hectic lifestyle. Sorie! You're in college now, yes? Or no? If so, what are you studying?

When you mentioned the hectic lifestyle, all I thought of was Bill Cosby in the Cosby Show always having to leave the house in the middle of the night to deliver... Just a fun fact.
I'm. Well. Technically, I suppose, yes. I don't actually start until mid-September, but my high school has orientation today which I'm obviously not going so I suppose it's appropriate to say college. I'm following through on my semi-life long dream of studying Marine Biology, thus I'll be spending most of this year taking calculus, chemistry, and hopefully a little bit of intro to biology. And the obligatory writing course. Wasn't really looking forward to revisiting chemistry, but you know. Life is full of sacrifices. (:

Sadly the Cosby reference is lost on me--I never watched much tv when I was younger.
Aha, another freshman! That makes three with you, Lauren, and my little brother. If you took AP chem in high school it should just be a repeat. If not, it's not that terrible anyway. Are you also moving far away for college or staying on the west coast?

Ew freshman courses. I'm sadly spending some of my time in geography and quantitative literacy (WHAT kind of math is that? D: Ahhh). I'm not a fan of the whole prerequisites thing.

Geography?? That's a new one. I've never heard of quantitative literacy, either. Perhaps it's some sort of course to get non-mathy types to understand statistics and whatnot? I imagine those would be important for marketing.

I'm still on the west coast, still in the same state. I'm just moving north a few hours. About 8-9ish hours from where I live now. (:

I just like living on my own. A lot. Classes haven't started yet, maybe that's why I'm still enjoying it.

YOUR DORM IS COOL. I love that you have a floor to ceiling window. Even though that's also slightly scary, but it's awesome. So do you have a single? More than likely I won't have one.
Also, yes Ice, it is a rather lengthy state.
