SO I've finally gotten a chance to take a few (highly strategically taken to avoid the mess and boxes) photos. HERE THEY ARE... One side of the living room, with my late 1920's or 1930's couch off the craigslist free section. I love the fact that they offer an accent wall (and I love the color we picked). My bedroom, as seen from the hall. My desk... And my cat getting in the way of me trying to make the bed.

I dislike this lack of black on your walls. It is disconcerting! Curse you rented apartment 8|
All looks pretty nice though.

I love the accent wall color! Our high school decided to do that wayy back and I thought it was a really nice touch, except it was called the focal wall and it was where the teacher stood and taught. Your couch is also pretty awesome. I like the sort of antique/old school thing you've got going on with your furniture! I've lived in white walls my entire life--we always rent so no modifications allowed, generally. You may want to consider some kind of wall decoration! This is really cool, albeit time consuming: aneesah-hideaway.net/?p=889 - an alternative might be bigger, flat origami pieces that you could stick to the wall with a little blu-tak (or whatever it's called).

Ice: Eeee, thanks, I'm enjoying the splash of color in the living room. We're actually allowed to paint as long as we paint it back when we move. But that would be a lot of effort. I've grown up with colored bedroom walls most of my life, bright bright pink/orange/green/yellow for a few years and then black for the last decade almost (sudden change, but I like bold walls), so the move into a white bedroom is off. I've been on the lookout for antique frames to put photos and art in, but I love the crane idea. I'm definitely up for folding cranes in my 'free time' (I once set upon making 1000, but I can't recall how far I got-nowhere close certainly) so I shall think about it. I'm very drawn to Victorian aesthetic, however, the apartment has a definite lean toward the early twentieth century. Close enough for now. xD Lauren: Me too! I've been getting quite a few fantastic freebies in the move. The couch was supposed to be free (but my mother insisted on paying $45 for it, it was a family heirloom), the trunk that I'm using as a coffee table was something my Aunt acquired for free and passed on to me (and I love it too), and additionally, my bed frame and desk lamp were given to me by my mother's boyfriend. He insisted he wasn't using them. Here's a reward for you all, a photo of my cat that I adore (both the cat and the photo). She's been very happy living here except for the scary footsteps from the hall.

Ooh, didn't see the bedframe detail before. Very nice! (As is your kitty. Gotta love them when they sprawl!)

It's a pretty neat old bed frame that we pulled out of a basement. xD
She very much likes my bed. I keep coming home and tossing things (bags, sweatshirts, etc.) on it and then noticing them moving a few minutes later. She likes sleeping under the covers apparently.

I don't know how I would handle being without her. I hate not being with my dog enough as it is. Having lots of photos of all my other pets is helping. I'm so sorry you can't be with your cat. Dx <3

I think looking at pictures is the worst. My mom sent me one the other day and I was just like, KITTY! D: I'm going home for a weekend in October and I really hope my roommate is cool with me bringing her back with me.

I LIKE ITTT. Nothing else to say. I also grew up with white walls, but they've always been cluttered with things I end up having no use for so I tack them up.

Things I hate about the apartment | Things I like about the apartment |
- It's hard to know when the oven is preheated
- The oven has no window
- The oven has no TIMER
- Sink is really shallow
- Kitchen is ugly
- Bathroom is ugly
- Not enough sunlight to grow vegetables or herbs, even indoors
- People talk REALLY LOUDLY when walking through the hall or passed my window (even late at night)
- The sidewalk is really close to our windows, so people can easily look in if you have the blinds open (this REALLY bothers me)
- They don't allow visiting dogs (though my mom brings him for visits anyway)
- $1.75 to wash + $1.50 to dry = $3.25 for clean clothes
- It vibrates.
- Weird noises from all over
- The white walls of my room still freak me out
- Far from campus
- No pantry/lack of adequate kitchen and food storage
- The bedroom doors are hard to close all the way
- Bad TV signal
- AWFUL internet stability
- Fridge is old and noisy, just like the dishwasher
- The scratchy metal noise the closet doors make
- No compost pile
- Water gets REALLY hot
|
- My cat likes it
- Next to a nice park
- The living room accent wall

D: I used to have an oven like yours. I was then introduced to the wonder of a modern oven with working buttons that even has a light switch! It would be hard to go back. But on the plus side, you have a roof over your head, and utilities.
