Wasn't there a Queen Mary at some point? History is fun stuff. There were two English Queen Mary's. Queen Mary I was also known as Mary the Bloody. She was a stout Catholic, wife of a Spanish monarch, and saw many prodistants burned at the stake. I think she died of a tumor, paving the way for Elizabeth I who she actually had locked in the Tower of London for a time. The second Mary is usually associated in conjuntion with her husband rather then a solitary monarch. William and Mary. Don't really know what they did, but she was the older sister of Queen Anne.

We watched that documentary-thingy about Elizabeth; I think it starred Cate Blanchett.

Ah, William and Mary were ones to sign a document that gave Parliament more priveleges, thus lowering the ultimate power of the monarch in England. I believe this was called the Revolutionary movement, or treaty, or something or other. I learned that recently in World History class.

^ Glorious Revolution, I think. Right after a King James, IIRC.

^ Glorious Revolution, I think. Right after a King James, IIRC. Yeah, King James II tried to have parliment disbanded and the Catholics take charge of the country again '.' *saw a bit of a doco about him the other day* Mary and Anne helped ditch him xD Anne is just a spewing fountain of history knowledge. =O Sometimes xD I only know a lot about the Tudor monarchy because I had an obsession with Liz I when I was younger x) However I CAN name most of the English monarchy, if only because they were all called Henry, Edward, William and George with a few James, Charles and a John thrown in XD (I can name all the main lasses, too) OH there was also a Queen Mary of Scotts. Liz I eventually had her beheaded because she was always trying to nick her throne, but because Liz I never married or had any bebies the throne went to Mary of Scotts son, James I. His nanny was a drunkard and I think he was too, but I believe he is the James who commissioned the King James Bible, 'cause James II was a stout Catholic and a lot of the books in the King James Bible was written by these guys who had been executed by the catholics for: a) Translating the Bible from Latin so the lay people could actually know what was being said (before the priests would just read to them in latin, which none of them understood, and would ring a bell so that the people knew when to say 'amen') b) Running off to France, printing the translation and sending it to England *cough* I really need to get 'The Adventures of English' DVD - that was a good series 8)

When she died, she was so swollen that they had to bury her in a square coffin. 0_o Oh, and she had a daughter named Anne Sophia.
